Remembering your dreams

We all dream every night even if we don’t remember the dream in the AM. The more attention you give to remembering your dreams, the more you will remember them. During the day, think to yourself “I will remember my dream tonight.” You may even need to write that statement on a piece of paper and read it throughout the day to yourself. Tell others you are working on remembering your dream and discuss your dreams with others as you feel comfortable.

Put a pad or notebook and a pen next to your bed and write at the top of the first page “Dream #1”. Jot down a few notes about your day. List anything that stood out for you that day, including music you heard or shows you may have watched. When you awaken, try not to move until you can remember your dream. Stay in the same position and try to awaken slowly.

Write down all your dreams in your dream journal, no matter how fragmented or bizarre. Sometimes the dreams you want to avoid looking at are the most important ones. Pay close attention to reoccurring dreams. They indicate something your subconscious is very anxious to tell you. Once you have begun paying attention to your dreams and interpreting them, you will have no difficulty remembering them.
